Związek Alexandre'a Tharauda z muzyką filmową jest głęboki i ma szeroki zakres. Na swoim podwójnym albumie CINEMA francuski pianista zagłębia się w 50 słynnych partytur filmowych kompozytorów z Francji, Włoch, USA, Japonii, Polski, Rumunii i Libanu – w sumie 19. Wśród nich są Wojciech Kilar (z muzyką z “Le Roi et l'Oiseau", Michel Legrand, John Williams, Ennio Morricone, Francis Lai, Marvin Hamlisch, Nino Rota i Philip Glass. Jak mówi Tharaud:
