Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmoniker - The Sound Of Simon Rattle

Ta 3-płytowa kolekcja ukazuje najważniejsze momenty współpracy legendarnego brytyjskiego dyrygenta z Filharmonią Berlińską. 7 września 2002 r. Sir Simon Rattle zadebiutował jako nowy dyrektor Filharmonii Berlińskiej, w znakomitej sali koncertowej stolicy Niemiec. Koncert ten zapoczątkował epokę, która w świecie muzycznym miała zapisać się złotymi literami.

Rattle z miejsca zahipnotyzował publiczność swoją elektryzującą werwą i nienasyconą ciekawością. Jego entuzjazm w poszukiwaniu nowego repertuaru dla Filharmonii w połączeniu z rzadko spotykaną charyzmą pozwoliły mu stworzyć nowoczesny wizerunek tej konserwatywnej wcześniej orkiestry o wielkiej tradycji. Udało mu się także uzyskać szczególne „Rattlowskie brzmienie”, które słyszymy tak wyraźnie w nowej kolekcji „The Sound of Simon Rattle”.

Zainteresowanie Simona Rattle'a dziełami, stanowiącymi przejście pomiędzy romantyzmem i muzyką XX w. jest wyraźnie zauważalne od lat. Jego zdumiewające interpretacje Mahlera wytyczyły współczesne kanony interpretacji. A jego odczytanie „Święta Wiosny” Strawińskiego, spopularyzowało utwór wśród młodych ludzi, wcześniej niezainteresowanych muzyką klasyczną.

Holst, Ravel, Musorgski, Czajkowski, Debussy, Borodin, Orff i Elgar – ich twórczość pozwoliła Rattleowi zaprezentować pełnię swych możliwości. Publiczności objawił się niczym magik brzmienia, który potrafił otwierać nowe perspektywy w tradycyjnym repertuarze (począwszy od Haydna poprzez Beethovena i Schuberta do Brahmsa) i wsprowadzić Berliner Philharmoniker z jej spuścizną Furtwänglera, Karajana i Abbado w nowe tysiąclecie.
